Weekends are a happening time in the national capital. From happening parties that last till the dawn to early morning heritage tours, live stand-up comedy shows to art exhibitions, cultural workshops to concerts, date destinations and romantic getaways, you name it and you’ve got it. But let’s face it, none of these exactly say fun things to do in Delhi with kids.
Even with no dearth of options, families with young kids may face somewhat of a challenge in picking out an activity with something to look forward to for everyone involved. Your weekend fun should not be at the mercy of a baby-sitter or relative you can trust your child with. If you are bored with the same-old shopping mall-dinner routine, check out these 7 fun things to do in Delhi with kids on weekends:
Get in Touch with India’s Rustic Side at Crafts Museum
Children being raised in the cities, especially metros like Delhi, lack a connection with India’s rural heritage. The National Crafts Museum allows you to explore this hitherto unfamiliar territory. The museum comprises a Village Complex that is divided into 15 different structures, each representing different parts of the country. About 50 resident artisans hold demonstrations on crafts indigenous to each of these regions.
Then there are galleries with a wide range of textiles and tribal crafts on display. It is a great bonding opportunity, where just about everyone in the family can learn something new. The spacious premises with ample room to run about makes this one fit right into the gambit of fun things to do in Delhi with kids. While the kids are out playing, you can shop for handicrafts at hugely discounted prices. A nice meal at the popular in-house cafe is the perfect way to round up this outing.
